about

This is the 2nd release an album called Keep Pushing Buttons Til Something Happens that were issuing one by one per month for now. The song was written a ways back and was influenced by the early Rolling Stones records that played a real formative role for us. The down to earth simplicity of the songs on albums like December's Children and Aftermath still speak to me. They were just about ordinary situations people go through in relationships and they all had a certain attitude that came across in the delivery.

lyrics

Things Don’t Work Out
B. Roues, S. Roues

Things don’t work out, don’t always work out
Things don’t work out, like you think they should
Things don’t work out, don’t always turn out
Things don’t work out, like you think they should

O why should I believe anything at all will go right for a change
What makes me think that you won’t find a way to rearrange
We had a date, are you gonna be late or even show up at all
I bet you wouldn’t even bother baby to call
but I know

Chorus

They say the wisdom of man is only foolishness to god above
You’ve got your college degree but you never really learned the first thing about love
So as long as I live until the day they put me in the ground
Remember what I said when I’m not around
Well you know

(Harp Solo)

And I don’t get discouraged too easily I keep try-try-tryin’
You think I’ll be waitin’ for you little darlin’ till the day I but you know

Things don’t work out, don’t always work out
Things don’t work out, like you think they should
Things don’t work out, don’t always turn out
Things don’t work out, like you think they should
Like you thought they would
Like you think they should
